Logistikas is supporting many socially important issues in all its areas of activity. In Vaasa, the Group began co-operation with the Vaasa Palloseura, which plays in the Veikkausliiga, the highest level in Finnish football. With the cooperation, Logistikas is enabling experiences both in the field and in the auditorium.

Like the rest of Finland, the Vaasa region is experiencing a strong football boom. Local pride VPS rose back to Veikkausliiga at the end of last season after two seasons at Ykkönen. The strength of black and white striped shirts is a unified football family.

”Above all, VPS is a large community. We are the flagship of the Vaasa region in football. Our community stands side by side in both the storm and the sunshine. We have the courage to adapt to the new, which in turn requires strength from all parts of the community”, says Satu Nieminen, VPS's Chief Operating Officer.

In recent years, the they have carried out extensive development work throughout the organization for success. VPS Ltd covers representation, academy and junior teams.

”A few years ago, we began to build a common strategy for the representative and junior sides. It is not normal in the sports world for these parties to develop the club so strongly together. For example, we have a joint sports director for the entire club.”

”The Vaasa region is athletically multi-level, multi-threaded and multilingual. There are smaller clubs in the area that are raising new players. We provide support to these nearby clubs, for example in terms of coaching and training.”

"VPS is a large community. Our community stands side by side in both the storm and the sunshine."

The development work has been functional and successful, one example of which is the rise of the representative team back to the Veikkausliiga. VPS also rose to the highest level of the Finnish Football Association's quality system among six other Finnish football clubs.

”There are indicators in the quality system that we have really worked to achieve. We had strategically determined when we should enter the Veikkausliiga at the latest. We are on schedule and on the right track.”

Experiences through life - on the field and in the auditorium

Vaasa Palloseura moves children, young people and adults, and offers experiences for the residents of the area. The club also organizes team activities for players with developmental disabilities and immigration backgrounds. In addition, VPS organizes afternoon activities for nearly ten schools in the area.

”For the current season, we have highlighted the families as even more strongly. For example, we have completely transformed the other end of the stadium into a family stands. Partners play a big role in this”, Nieminen says.

”The player's path to the representative team is in strong reach on the boys 'side, and the same is also under construction in girls' football in cooperation with FC Sport. The players of our representative team are close to the juniors, which means that role models and sporting examples are present in everyday life. It is hugely important.”

"It is much more than a sport, as children and young people go through joys and sorrows."

Athletic success is always based on a strong and committed network of partners.

”The partners enable this activity, without them the monitoring activities would not run at any level. Together with our partners, we build various entities from edge advertising to video production - only the sky is the limit.”

”We enable our junior teams to raise money for their activities. For example, in their home matches, they take care of the operation of the kiosks and receive all the profits from the sale.”

Especially in juniors, the role of volunteers such as coaches, guardians and team leaders is very important. Although VPS has a lot of full-time head coaches on the junior side, the participation of players parents are always needed as well.

”I have been my child's team leader and I know from experience that it gives on a whole new dimension in meeting people. It is much more than a sport, as children and young people go through joys and sorrows. I wouldn’t give away any of those experiences because it’s all extremely rewarding.”

From a division favorite to a league challenger

Logistikas expanded its operations to Vaasa in the summer of 2021 by acquiring the shares of Piccolo Packing Ltd and Piccolo Solutions Ltd. Piccolo has been as a VPS's partner for years, so it was natural that Logistikas also continued the cooperation with VPS. Logistikas wants to be involved in supporting the well-being of its domain and providing experiences for communities. This kind of cooperations must always also support business.

”We are very happy that Logistikas wanted to continue the journey with us. They really care about this area of ours and our community. Logistikas’ logo can be seen for example on our Stadium in different ways”, Nieminen says.

The sponsor player of Logistics is Tyler Reid, an English defender who has joined the VPS for this season. The Veikkausliiga started for the VPS at the beginning of April.

”We are moving forward at the same time with full enthusiasm and fearful feelings. These are things that sport always brings. Last year we were the pre-favorites, while this season we are in the position of challenger. We move forward one game at a time, believing in our own thing.”

”Our team has old and new players. For example, experienced Sebastian Strandvall and Steven Morrissey are important pieces of our team also in the Veikkausliiga. In addition, we have returned home Jesper Engström, as well as new players Tyler Reid, Gustaf Backaliden and goalkeeper Oskari Forsman. It is also very great that we have a lot of young guys from our own club.”

"We are very happy that Logistikas wanted to continue the journey with us. They really care about this area of ours and our community."

Nieminen emphasizes that football is the best on live. Work is systematically done to achieve success goals. The VPS office has pennants about the Euro Cup games played in 2014, 2015 and 2017. Nieminen nods in the direction of the pennants.

"That's it, our goal - VPS wants to go back to Europe”, Nieminen smiles.
